It passed the 1,000 full-text document barrier last month. This site gives information about e-journals, plus lists and a searchable index of many hundreds of titles, both free and subscription based. This is a very informative site for anyone with an interest in e-journals. Electronic Submission and Peer Review Project: ESPERE http://www.espere.org/ New address from the one given in issue 24 of this newsletter. "Many journal publishers now accept the text of authors' papers on disk but most still require the author to submit figures, tables and photographic material in the form of hard copy, this makes it impossible to submit a paper electronically. However, a major concern of authors and publishers alike is the length of time between submission of the paper and its final appearance in a printed journal (publication time). The ESPERE project is investigating the technical and cultural issues involved in these new developments, particularly with regard to the biomedical sciences. The FindLaw Guide: a comprehensive guide to legal information that includes over 25,000 site listings reviewed by the FindLaw team (with editorial descriptions) in over 30 practice areas as well as state-specific, federal and international materials. FindLaw facilitates access to a broad spectrum of resources including online codes and case law, legal publishers, legal associations, law schools and law reviews, experts and continuing legal education courses. The LawCrawler is a tool for searching legal code and case law databases. Cases and Codes : FindLaw operates a daily updated database that includes U.S. Supreme Court decisions back to 1893 as well as recent U.S. Circuit Court and state court decisions, and federal and state codes. FindLaw also provides access to the Constitution of the United States with annotations, interpretation and analysis as well as hypertext links to the relevant Supreme Court cases. FindLaw Consumer Law Center contains thousands of articles and resources in scores of categories to help consumers with a wide range of legal issues such as identifying, hiring and resolving disputes with lawyers. The FindLaw Consumer Law Center also includes general information about the legal system as well as contact information for consumer organizations. FindLaw Small Business Center includes essential information on starting, financing, managing and marketing a small business, including step-by-step checklists, model business plans, legal and other business forms and documents, and the latest legal and business news. Government Information Center contains a guide to U.S. Congress and state legislatures, including, among other resources, contact information, committee information, House and Senate schedules and a representative locator. Jobs Database allows visitors to search and post legal jobs and resumes for free. Legal News is updated throughout the day, covers a range of topics related to law and government, and includes a free subscription service featuring daily updates of Federal Regulations and news related to public laws. LegalMinds is a virtual community for the legal profession that includes mailing lists, message boards, chat rooms, and other venues for use by the legal community. Other Services: FindLaw provides access to additional resources and services such as online continuing education courses, free e-mail, free Internet faxing capability, a legal dictionary and an online bookstore.
