Global Ocean Governance

Coral

Protection of biodiversity in our oceans is vital in the face of rapid climate change and global warming. But as pressures increase, effective ocean governance is essential to balancing environmental protection with economic and social interests.

Led by Associate Professor in Environmental Law, Dr Daniela Diz, The Lyell Centre is a key voice in international negotiations to strengthen global commitments to ocean health and resilience. Dani's team's work spans international law, sustainability governance, marine science, climate policy, geopolitics, and environmental justice, contributing to the delivery of the UN's Sustainable Development Goal on life below water.
