Biography
I am an interdisciplinary academic and researcher with expertise in digital design, interface design, and visual communication. My academic journey began in the humanities, and over the years, I have combined my passion for design and technology to build a career at the intersection of research, teaching, and practice. I hold a doctorate in Media from Bauhaus-University Weimar, Germany, where I specialised in interface design and usability, and I also have two MSc degrees in Digital Media and Multimedia Production from prestigious German institutions.
My professional experience spans over a decade of teaching in the UK and Germany, where I have delivered courses in UX/UI design, visual communication, digital services, and media production at institutions such as Heriot-Watt University, De Montfort University, University of Derby, and Bauhaus-University Weimar. My teaching philosophy emphasises the integration of research with practical applications, equipping students with adaptable skills for the ever-evolving creative industries.
My research focuses on how technology and design converge to enhance user interaction and communication. I am particularly interested in context-aware interfaces, immersive reality, urban media, and wayfinding. My interdisciplinary projects have explored diverse topics such as augmented reality for cultural heritage, mobile context-aware design for UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and the role of public graphic design in urban environments.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have actively engaged in international collaborations across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. With knowledge of several languages at varying levels, I am committed to fostering internationalisation in higher education, creating global academic networks, and promoting cross-cultural understanding. These efforts aim to bridge academia and industry while driving impactful research in the creative sectors.
Through my teaching, research, and outreach, I aim to make a meaningful contribution to education, design innovation, and global collaboration.
