Biography
I hold a MEng degree in Civil Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece, 2003) and a PhD degree from the Polytechnic School of Milan (Italy, 2007). After a three-year period working as structural engineer in Athens, Greece, I was appointed as Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2010) with the Institute for Infrastructure Engineering (IIE) of the University of Western Sydney (Australia).
I joined HWU in 2013 as Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering and I was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. My current research is mainly focused on the development of novel structural typologies for multi-hazard mitigation and sustainability in construction.
