Ahmet Furkan Esen

Biography

Currently, I am an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Sustainable Built Environment, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. My research and teaching span geotechnical engineering to transportation engineering.

I hold a BSc in Civil & Structural Engineering from Yildiz Technical University, Turkey, and an MSc in Civil Engineering: Highways and Transportation from the University of Nottingham. I completed my PhD at Heriot-Watt University, focusing on experimental and numerical analysis of high-speed railway infrastructure.

Following my PhD, I undertook two postdoctoral research projects on railway engineering at the University of Leeds and Heriot-Watt University.
