
Biography
Soon Min is an Assistant Professor in Geotechnical Engineering at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS), Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, where he currently leads the Civil Engineering programme. He holds a Bachelor, Masters, and PhD degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
He is a Professional Engineer (PEng) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineering Council UK and a Fellow of the Advance HE (FHEA). He is also a member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), and a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT).
Beyond academia, Soon Min is actively involved in professional service. Since 2018, he has served as a committee member of the Geotechnical Engineering Technical Division (GETD) under IEM, contributing to the advancement of the geotechnical engineering profession in Malaysia. He also represents Malaysia at the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), as a national nominated member for TC306 Geo-engineering education.
