Biography

Dr Sunita Mathur is a Program Director and Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University Dubai. Dr Mathur has over two decades of international teaching and management experience in higher education, teaching in Canada, India, and the UAE.

Besides teaching a wide range of courses at all levels in Accounting and Finance, including undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses, she also supervises UG and PG dissertations. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a member of the Certified Professional Accountant- CPA- Australia.

Dr Mathur’s research interest and expertise lie in IFRS and its harmonization and convergence in emerging economies, Regulatory Framework of International Financial Reporting and its conceptual Framework, Internationalization and Harmonization of Financial Reporting, Future of Financial Accounting, Environmental, Social Governance and Reporting, Role of AI in accounting, IFRS standards-IFRS 15, IAS 38, IAS 36, IAS 16 etc.

She received the "Certificate of Excellence" for Best Presentation/ Best Content at the Academicsera International Conference held in Rome, Italy on 25-26 August 2019.

Dr Sunita Mathur is a Program Director and Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University Dubai.

She is also the Chief Examiner (External) at the Emirates Institute of Finance UAE. (a government of UAE undertaking under the patronage of the Central Bank of UAE)

In addition to her academic experience, Dr. Mathur has strong managerial and entrepreneurial skills. She worked as an entrepreneur dealing in uninterruptible power supplies before becoming an academic.
