Why did you choose to study online at Heriot-Watt University?

I chose to study online at Heriot-Watt because it offered the perfect balance between academic excellence and the flexibility I needed as a full-time employee. How did you find the learning materials?

I found the learning materials clear, well-structured, and very easy to follow, especially as an online learner. The video lectures were concise and engaging, making complex theories easier to understand.

How has your programme impacted your career and personal life so far?

The programme has had a strong positive impact on my professional and personal growth. It helped me understand how and why strategic decisions are made within the company, and it significantly improved my ability to analyse situations and make better, well-structured decisions.

It also strengthened my leadership skills - I became a more confident and supportive senior team member, able to guide others with clearer reasoning and stronger business insight. On a personal level, balancing work and study improved my discipline, time management, and overall confidence in handling new challenges.

What was your favourite course and why?

My favourite courses were Strategic Management and Marketing.

Strategic Management helped me understand how organisations make high-level decisions, set direction, and align resources. It allowed me to better interpret my company’s strategic choices, analyse situations more effectively, and make stronger, more informed decisions in my daily role. It also strengthened my leadership capability as a senior team member.

Marketing was equally important because it directly supports my aspiration to move into a Brand/Marketing role. The course enhanced my understanding of customer behaviour, segmentation, positioning, and value creation - all essential skills for my next career step. I was able to apply several concepts immediately in my work, especially when shaping engagement plans or supporting product-related activities.

Together, these courses have had the biggest impact on both my career development and future ambitions.
