Why did you choose to study online at Heriot-Watt University?
The online system helped me a lot in my work. If I took any day off, I had my full time to study. Even if I didn't have any days off during the week, I could find another time over the weekend to study. It really helped me a lot to manage my time and finish the courses. Even the timing of the exams being all around the year meant that if I wasn't ready, I could skip it and catch up with the next one.
How did the MBA impact your professional career?
It affected my confidence very well. Before taking any decision in my work, sometimes I open the portal, review some words and then go back to my work and speak confidently because I just read something relevant. It really did cause a very big change in my personality and my career as well.
It has enriched my knowledge, both by the videos and reading the case studies. It was super impactful. It shed a light on both my career and personal life as a mother. My kids know how to be committed and responsible. Besides this they were asking me my advice in their studies, like the accounting, economics and finance. I can see they’re proud of me.
What were your favourite courses?
Big Data Analytics for Business was really, really beneficial. The AI and the machine learning, the coding, it was really a beneficial course.
Leadership theory and practice also added a lot to my knowledge and capabilities. My leadership example was the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern. Studying this course made me dig deeper into the leadership roles, which was super beneficial.
How do you feel to have graduated with an MBA?
It's a proud moment - I hope everyone can feel this feeling.
Actually, every graduate should not stop their learning phase at a bachelor's degree. For example, my son finished in mechanical engineering. I encourage him so much to study business administration, because it's a must for everyone. Aside from his career, it's an important step for continuing his life in a successful way.
