Heriot-Watt University researchers are once again stepping into the spotlight at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, joining forces with comedians and creatives in ‘The Provocateurs’ - a bold series of shows blending science, storytelling, and stand-up.

Hosted at The Stand Comedy Club, ‘The Provocateurs’ is the latest evolution of the ‘Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas,’ offering audiences a chance to engage with cutting-edge research in an entertaining and accessible format. This year’s line-up features Heriot-Watt academics tackling everything from brain health to body learning, all with a Fringe-worthy twist.

Each show is hosted by a professional comedian, including Sarah-Jane Judge and Susan Morrison, ensuring that even the most complex ideas are delivered with humour and heart.

The series runs throughout August at The Stand’s venues across Edinburgh, offering a unique opportunity for festivalgoers to laugh, learn, and challenge their assumptions.

Tickets are available via The Stand Comedy Club website.

Early booking is recommended as shows often sell out.
