What does this achievement mean to you, and what helped you succeed throughout your studies?
To me, achievement is less about reaching a milestone and more about becoming a better version of myself throughout the journey. I am grateful for the support of MACS lecturers, peers, and family, as well as the opportunities that challenged me to grow.
What programme did you study, and why did you choose it?
I chose BSc Statistical Data Science because it offered the flexibility to explore both statistics and computer science through a wide range of electives. This allowed me to gain exposure to different disciplines and discover where my strengths and interests lie.
What is your favourite or most memorable moment from your time as a Heriot-Watt student?
It is difficult to choose a single moment. What I cherish most are the countless late nights spent studying with friends, preparing for competitions with my teammate, and the everyday moments shared with peers.
Have you developed any links with industry during your degree programme?
Yes, I secured both of my internships through the university's annual career fair. Participating in competitions and attending industry talks also gave me valuable insights into the qualities and mindset employers look for in graduates.
How has your perspective on your field of study changed since you started your course?
When I first started, I believed strong technical skills were the main key to success. While technical foundations are important, I have learned that curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to keep learning are just as valuable.
What advice would you give to current students?
Follow your own pace and do not be afraid to explore opportunities beyond academics. Trying different experiences can help you discover what genuinely interests you and where you want to go. I am still figuring that out myself too.
