Profile

How would you describe your current experience of the programme at Heriot-Watt?

Heriot-Watt doesn't just deliver a curriculum; it puts you through a furnace to refine your professional identity. The process is grueling. The programme is a high-intensity simulation of the energy industry, anchored by core modules in Well Testing, Production Technology, Reservoir Simulation, Petroleum Economics, and Reservoir Engineering.

What sets it apart is its modern relevance; the entire structure is engineered to address the Global Energy Transition, stretching our capacity for critical analysis and drive for excellence.

Did you take part in the Go Global programme? What stood out to you?

Yes, and the experience was truly transformative. What makes the Go Global programme a definitive game-changer isn’t just the travel; it’s the operational adaptability it demands. In the energy industry, we work in multi-national teams where technical approaches and regulations vary by region; moving between campuses forced me to re-evaluate my own thinking and master the global language of engineering. Beyond the academic rigor, I was immersed in a cultural exchange that challenged me to evolve personally and professionally. Additionally, at Heriot-Watt, you are never an island. Whether you are in Dubai, Malaysia, or Edinburgh, you are part of a borderless, supportive ecosystem that ensures you remain connected to a global family. The Go Global experience proved my ability to thrive in any environment, preparing me to lead with confidence anywhere in the world.

Why should a prospect select this programme as their choice?

I would advise any prospect to choose Heriot-Watt because, from day one, you are treated like a 'big deal.' There is a unique level of trust placed in us by the faculty to deliver global solutions, which builds a professional confidence recognized worldwide, especially with the university currently ranked amongst the top ten universities in the world, QS 2026. The environment at Heriot-Watt is an incubator for integrity, discipline, and shared responsibility, teaching you to deeply respect your teammates and understand that the many significant global solutions are a product of collective genius. I think Heriot-Watt reinforces a value system that compels excellence.

Would you like to make a tribute to anyone in the Programme Department?

Just as Isaac Newton famously observed, I can see farther because I am standing on the shoulders of giants. My growth has been shaped by the profound expertise and mentorship of Dr. Teo Wee, Dr. Faisal, Dr. Alia, Ms. Noordiana, and Ms. Fida. Their dedication has been the bedrock of my academic journey. I also want to acknowledge the extraordinary support and intentionality of our Provost, Prof. Mushtak Al-Atabi. Despite his immense global responsibilities, I was moved to find that he not only knew my schedule but also took a genuine interest in my individual progress. It is a powerful testament to a leadership team that is truly obsessed with student success and excellence. At Heriot-Watt, they don't just teach engineering; they ignite the passion and purpose required to become a global solution provider.
