Project title
Orchestrating Resources for Sustainable and Resilient Food Supply Chains
Project abstract
Current globalised, industrialised, food logistics systems are at a crossroads; vulnerabilities in the food system are fundamentally mediated by the logistics systems that move, store, and distribute food, transport networks and logistics infrastructure are a liable player in major sources of emissions and in critical points of fragility in an increasingly volatile market/ era of accelerating environmental change. The purpose of this study is to conceptualise resilient food systems from a sustainable supply chain and logistics management which leverage community skills, knowledge, and capacities, to support resilient, and effective, responses to shocks and crises- starting here, in Orkney.
