A comprehensive evaluation of pelagic calcifiers globally and in the North Atlantic.
Project abstract
Ben is a PhD student in ocean biogeochemistry, understanding pelagic calcifiers. While pelagic calcifiers (coccolithophores, pteropods, and foraminifera) have been studied for years, rarely are they studied together. However, researching them together allows for a comprehensive calcium carbonate budget and to understand which organisms dominate production and export to the deep ocean. Ben is also studying their relative risks to climate change.
