25. Chamaecyparis pisifera

The Sawara Cypress is native to Japan and grows to a height of 35-50 metres (115-164 feet). Pisifera translating from Latin as pea-bearing, referring to the small round green cones. It is grown for its timber in Japan for building palaces, temples, shrines, baths and coffins.
