What programme did you study and why did you choose it?

My journey started in September 2023 when I applied for the MBA while working as a Deputy Project Manager in ALITKAN company, the advanced partner for Siemens Healthineers in Iraq. After one year of the study journey, I'd been promoted to a Project Manager for oncology projects, one of the most important fields.

I chose the MBA to strengthen my leadership capabilities and improve my ability to understand, analyse, and respond to changing market conditions

What’s your favourite / most memorable moment from your time as a Heriot-Watt student?

My most memorable moment was when I received the Master degree email, holding my MBA was a defining moment, it reminded me that every late night after work and every sacrifice made with my family had been worth it.

Can you tell us about any support you received as a student?

I took part in several workshops for time management to help balance working, studying and family life. I was guided through the journey through online meetings and phone calls with the student engagement team, who suggested taking part in free courses through LinkedIn and Coursera and project management programmes.

What advice would you give to an online student considering Heriot-Watt?

I would advise all students that have plans to study to consider Heriot-Watt University as they have the best student portal, which offers a range of help and support, with the material being regularly updated.

What are you planning to do after you graduate?

My plan is to focus on the business, mentor fresh colleagues by transferring the knowledge and theories, apply what I learned to improve project efficiency, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and support the delivery of high-value healthcare projects in Iraq.
