What was it like moving from Malaysia to Edinburgh with Go Global and settling into life in the UK?

It was a new experience for me since I had not been to the UK before, but Edinburgh was so welcoming and charming, so it made my stay here super easy to transition into.

Can you name three things that made you want to study at Heriot-Watt?

1. The Business and Finance course was recognised by the CFA certification.

2. Edinburgh is a beautiful city to live in.

3. The campus and the busy student life it offered.

What programme did you study and why did you choose it?

I thoroughly enjoyed the University's subject selection, choosing to study Business and Finance. The reason I chose this course is because I found myself very intrigued by the finance industry and keen to find out more about the subject.

What’s your favourite / most memorable moment from your University experience?

My favourite moment from my University experience is leading the Malaysian Society as its Vice-President. My purpose was to serve the Malaysian students studying abroad by providing a home away from home. I had a blast planning events with my committee members and it really made my final year of University eventful!

How have the teaching staff supported your learning?

Most of the teaching staff, including Ms Lucy, Ms Hoang and Mr Kadry, were so ready to share and help when I needed it. They were always so prepared to answer my questions and would go above and beyond to help me!

I was honoured to be recognized as one of the Best Performing Students in the School of Social Sciences, being awarded The Balmoral Asset Management Prize, a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence.

What unique opportunities (e.g., research projects, internships) have you had during your studies?

I completed an internship at UEM Sunrise Berhad as an Enterprise Risk Management Practical Trainee. I had the opportunity to dive into challenging risk assessments, organise risk and governance events and workshops, as well as engaging in stimulating enterprise risk discussions.

What are you planning to do after you graduate?

I will start working as a Valuation Associate at PwC in October. It is thanks to the curriculum provided by Heriot-Watt University that I could excel in my job assessments.
