What appealed to you most about Heriot-Watt?
The international atmosphere and the strong sense of community stood out to me. I particularly appreciated the close relationships between lecturers and students, fostered by the open-door policy and supportive academic environment.
Favourite memory as a Heriot-Watt student:
Meeting incredible people from all over the world and learning about their cultures was truly enriching. These connections made my time at Heriot-Watt unforgettable.
Career journey since graduation:
After completing my undergraduate degree, I continued at Heriot-Watt as a PhD candidate in Physics. My research focuses on transparent and electrically conductive glasses, exploring their applications in integrated photonics and nonlinear optics.
How did your Heriot-Watt education contribute to your success?
The well-structured courses, close contact with lecturers, and the support of ambitious peers created an environment where I could thrive. Heriot-Watt nurtured my curiosity for science and research, helping me grow both academically and personally.
Advice for current and prospective students:
Believe in yourself, set clear goals, and stick to a schedule—time management is key! Also, make time for student societies and sports clubs. They enrich your university experience and make your time at the Edinburgh campus truly memorable (not every university has an Oriam!).
Future aspirations:
- Career: I’m passionate about research that leads to technological advancements benefiting both people and the environment.
- Community: I hope to contribute to helping others live happier and more fulfilling lives.
