Profile
Noah’s journey at Heriot-Watt is the result of years of determination, late nights, and steady ambition, culminating in a graduation moment he’s truly earned. Supported from the very beginning by the Global College, he found the transition into University life smooth and encouraging, surrounded by staff who genuinely cared about his success.
Beyond the classroom, the football team became his second home, offering friendships, mentorship, and a sense of belonging that shaped his University experience just as much as his academic achievements.
What programme did you study and why did you choose it? I completed the Certificate of Higher Education in Accelerator Foundation at Heriot-Watt Global College, before progressing onto the Master of Arts in Economics. I've always been drawn to understanding how decisions, markets, and policy shape the world, and Economics gave me the tools to explore that properly.
Can you name three things that made you want to study at Heriot-Watt? Family members had already studied here, so there was an instant sense of trust in the institution. The Economics programme was exactly what I was looking for - rigorous and with strong career pathways. The competitive football culture also played a big part, as knowing I could compete at a high level made the decision easy.
What's your favourite moment from your time as a Heriot-Watt student? The friends I made in my very first week at University are still some of my closest friends to this day, and the laughs and memories we shared together are something I'll treasure forever. Being the only fresher in the football squad and getting taken in by the older players straight away was also incredibly special. And of course, handing in that last assignment and knowing all the hard work had finally paid off.
Did you receive any support as a student? Marco and Thiago, my course director and his assistant, were outstanding. They went out of their way before the start of each semester to help me pick the right courses and made each year's transition as smooth as possible. I'm genuinely grateful for the time they gave me.
What advice do you have for current students?
Stay focused on what truly matters, but don't forget to enjoy the experience, it goes faster than you think. Be open-minded, back yourself, and make the most of every opportunity in front of you.
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
I plan to start my career in the finance industry. I'm excited for what comes next, but I'll look back on my time at Heriot-Watt with real pride and gratitude. It's shaped me in ways that go well beyond my degree, and I wouldn't change a single moment of it.
