Kieran graduated from the MEng Architectural Engineering programme in 2022. He has worked on several notable projects including the Parkhead Northeat Hub Health Centre in Glasgow, helping communities in countless ways. He is currently a Mechanical Engineer at AECOM.

ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PROFESSONAL LIFE
How would you describe your current role (& previous roles, if applicable)?
My current role as a mechanical building services engineer is to design mechanical and public health systems in buildings such as heating and cooling, ventilation, drainage and water services.
Project(s) that you are most proud to have worked on
I am particularly proud to have been part of the team designed the Parkhead Northeast Hub Health Centre in Glasgow. The centre was opened in April 2025 - providing services for children, adults and older people, addictions, justice, homelessness, sexual health and health improvement, with GP services, a community pharmacy and dental services. The centre hosts 900 staff and 9 different local health centres all serving the local and wider community.

Any advice you would give to your younger self or students currently studying at Heriot-Watt University?
Find your niche. University courses give great insight into a breadth of different subjects and disciplines in industry. It’s ok to not be an expert in everything. Take the time to figure out what you enjoy.
Can you sum up your time at Heriot-Watt University?
My time at Heriot-Watt University was incredibly insightful, rewarding but most importantly fun. Surrounded by a great learning environment, I had the opportunity to grow both academically and personally.
