Overview
This scholarship is jointly funded by The Robertson Trust and Heriot-Watt University and supports up to 10 students per year for the duration of their chosen degree programme.
What is The Scholarship?
Successful nominees will receive The Robertson Trust Scholarship, which is the financial bursary awarded to Scholars throughout their time at university to improve access and retention. Successful nominees will also be enrolled on the Journey to Success Programme, supporting them to participate and succeed at university.
What is The Journey to Success programme?
The Journey to Success Programme provides Scholars with training to develop their communication skills, improve confidence and resilience, and develop their ability to succeed under pressure. These skills will help Scholars to participate at university and succeed after graduating.
All applications must be made by nomination by staff from one of our partner schools, colleges, universities, or access programmes based on the following guidelines:
- Resident in Scotland at the time of application. As a Scotland-wide funder, we can only consider applicants who have attended school in Scotland and are resident in Scotland at the time of application
- Have made an application to a Scottish University. As a Scotland-wide funder, we provide support to students at Scottish Universities.
- 16-25 year old accessing a programme of undergraduate study. Our programme focuses on young people accessing undergraduate study, but we acknowledge the articulation route through college.
- First degree. We cannot consider applicants who have already obtained a degree.
- Eligibility for SAAS support. Our financial support is intended to complement other sources of statutory support and not replace it. Candidates must be eligible for tuition fees as a minimum requirement through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland.
Eligibility
Scottish students who meet the criteria listed in the overview section.
