Faith and belief

A group of students sitting on bean bags in a group discussion.

Heriot-Watt University respects religious and cultural diversity and aims to support individuals in their religious and cultural observance.

We aim to be a place where students and staff of different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs can meet and mix together in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Religion has been an important influence over many thousands of years of history in the Orkney Islands. Even the bloodthirsty Vikings had their own spirituality and philosophy. Today there is a rich tapestry of religious faith throughout the Islands. Below you will find details of the main religious groupings to be found here.
