Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages & Intercultural Studies at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, UK. With over 25 years of experience using sign language and a professional career as a qualified interpreter in both American Sign Language (ASL)/English and British Sign Language (BSL)/English, I aim to bridge academic excellence with real-world expertise.

As a practising freelance interpreter, I have worked extensively in both the UK and the US, maintaining strong ties to the interpreting profession and the wider industry.  Since 2007, I have been dedicated to teaching and training interpreters, bringing a holistic approach to education that integrates traditional methods with cutting-edge innovations.
