Biography
Owen Harrington Fernández is an Assistant Professor in Translation at Heriot‑Watt University, Edinburgh. His PhD (2015) examined the sociolinguistic and semiotic dimensions of translating fictive dialogue, and since then his research has focused on translation and cognition, as well as the translation of children’s literature. He lectures on translation practice and theory, interpreting practice, and general linguistics. He currently serves as Secretary of APTIS, the Association of Programmes in Translation and Interpreting Studies in the UK and Ireland.
