Biography
My research engages with languages, space, and community in translation studies and intercultural communication. Specifically, I have conducted research on museums, heritage sites, and urban landscapes. My research responds to the emerging spatial turn in applied linguistic studies to explore languages as one of the semiotic resources within multimodal, multicultural, and multilingual spaces. My studies on how languages mediate the process of placemaking by community members further contributes to the recent material and affective turns in social sciences. I have a wide range of publications in interdisciplinary journals, including Translation Studies, Journal of Heritage Tourism, Translation Spaces, Journal of Specialised Translation, Museum and Society, Tourism and Management, and East Asian Journal of Popular Culture. My publications are also included in key reference books such as Routledge Handbook of Translation and Memory. I am the author of the monograph Translation on Display Multilingual Texts in Multimodal Museum Space (Routledge 2025).
