Emma Guion Akdağ

Before joining Heriot-Watt University, Emma worked internationally as an English language teacher, teacher educator and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) trainer for a range of organisations, including the British Council. Her teaching and teacher-development experience spans France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Syria and Turkey.

At Heriot-Watt University, she has continued to contribute to international education and professional development, including delivering teacher training in Turkmenistan and working with university lecturers from Sichuan University, China. These experiences have informed her longstanding interests in language education, intercultural communication and the internationalisation of higher education.
