Biography

BSc Mathematics (Glasgow) 1981. PhD (Heriot-Watt) 1995. Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries 1984. Employment: Scottish Amicable Life Assurance Society 1981-1989, Heriot-Watt University 1989 to 2022. Professor Emeritus 2022 to date. Honorary Librarian of the Faculty of Actuaries 1998-2007. David Garrick Halmstad Prize 2003. Elected Honorary Member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa 2005. Elected FRSE 2006. Finlaison Medal of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries 2011.
