Biography
Dr Haijun Fan received a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, in 2009, a master’s degree in electromagnetic and microwave technology and a PhD degree in electronic science and technology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2011 and 2016, respectively.
Dr Fan is currently an Assistant Professor with the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K. From 2019-2020, he was a Senior Power Amplifier Design Engineer at Ampleon in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. From 2018-2019, he was a Research Associate with the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electronic Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China, from 2016-2017.
Dr Fan has served as an Associate Editor of Microwave and Optical Technology Letters since May 2025 and was a Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member for the 8th IEEE International Conference on Integrated Circuits, Technologies and Applications (ICTA 2025).
Dr Fan successfully supervised a PhD student, as first supervisor, who received the Best Student Paper Prize (2nd Place) at the 2026 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT), held in Liverpool, UK, 25–27 March 2026.
