Biography

Adnan Zahid BSC(Hons) MSc PhD AFHEA FEAI FRSA

Adnan Zahid received his BSc Hons and MSc in electronics and communication engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University (2010), and University of Strathclyde (2016), respectively. His current research interests include terahertz (THz)/RF sensing for precision agriculture and communication applications, artificial intelligence, internet of things, non-invasive health care solutions, wearable and flexible sensors, and learning. He received his PhD in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from University of Glasgow (UofG) in October 2020 with Full Scholarship awarded from Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). From Sep 2019 to May 2020, I was a substitute lecturer at University of Glasgow. From January 2019 to August 2019, he was employed as research assistant to work on the project “Non-Invasive Glucose Monitoring (£27k, EPSRC Partnership) at James Watt School of Engineering.

He has authored and co-authored over 30+ peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals and conference proceedings, 2 books and received recognition for his work, and acts as a reviewer for several top-notch journals and conferences. He has given talk at esteemed platforms including IMBIOC conference, IWMAT, IEEEMTS, URSI, Xidian University, Xian China, Plant Science Conference (GPAR) 2022. He has served as TPC chair for UCET 2018, 2019, BodyNets 2020, and SMARTTECH, 2021.

He received university Research Excellence Award for outstanding contributions in research area Terahertz (THz) 2020 from University of Glasgow. current research interests include terahertz (THz)/RF sensing for precision agriculture and communication applications, artificial intelligence, internet of things, non-invasive health care solutions, wearable and flexible sensors, and learning.

His current research interests include terahertz (THz)/RF sensing for precision agriculture and non-invasive Healthcare Applications, AI Health care, Smart Systems Integration, IoT and non-invasive health care, wearable sensors and microelectronics, Learning and Education.

Public Engagement Outreach:

- I had the privilege of leading the delivery of this event "Girls into Electronics: Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers" at Heriot-Watt University", a day full of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce school girls to the exciting world of electronic engineering and inspire them to see themselves as future engineers.

January 2026 – STEM Outreach Engagement

- I delivered a keynote address at Forrester High School’s Career Insight Day, “Building the Future: Your Journey to Electronic Engineering,” achieving 100% positive feedback and a measurable increase in student interest, reflected in post‑event engagement, follow‑up enquiries, and expressed intent to explore engineering degree pathways.
