Biography
Clayton is a world leader in applied biogeochemistry, with a unique focus on developing paired biomarker and isotope insights into ancient and contemporary processes, including (paleo)environmental change. His research focuses on understanding patterns of carbon movement through complex ecological systems and the legacy of organic matter in the environment, both aquatic and terrestrial, which he coordinates through the MAGPIE (Multidisciplinary Archaeology, Geoenergy, Paleoenvironments and Isotope Ecology) Lab.
