Biography

Dr Yun Ii Go is an established academic with 22 years of experience in higher education and industry. She currently serves as the Associate Academic Dean of the University, a University Senator and member of the Senate Committee for Interim Business and Effectiveness (SCIBE). She has held multiple leadership roles including Associate Dean (Pan-University Constituency), Associate Dean (Science and Engineering Constituency), Associate Director of Academic Quality and Programme Director. Through services in the global university committees including the University Committee of Quality and Standards (UCQS) and University Disciplinary Committee (UDC), she has contributed to the institutional strategy, policy development and academic governance.

Beyond the University, Dr Go has been appointed as the Head of Panel of Evaluators by Malaysia Engineering Accreditation Council and Engineering Technology Accreditation Council. She has a strong track record in leading accreditation and quality-assurance activities including EAC Malaysia and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accreditations with highly commendable outcomes. She has also served as a panel member for Global Academic Review; and contributed to Enhancement-Led Institutional Review (ELIR), PAM-related processes and other PSRB accreditations.

Dr Go is the recipient of prestigious UL Research Institutes–ASEAN–US Women Science Prize 2024 as Malaysia’s national winner and subsequently a Top Two ASEAN regional winner. Representing Malaysia at the Southeast Asia level, she competed among applicants from more than 60 institutions across over 10 ASEAN countries. The award supported by the United States Government in partnership with ASEAN and UL Research Institutes, recognizes outstanding women scientists whose work delivers meaningful societal impact and serves as a role models for women in STEM. In recognition of her achievement as an ASEAN regional winner, she also received an official written commendation from United States Senator Tammy Duckworth, acknowledging her excellence and the pride she brought to Malaysia.

Dr Go was named 2024 Top Scholar, 0.5% worldwide in the System Design category, alongside researchers from institutions including RMIT, Cornell University, Imperial College London, University of Southern California and Princeton University. Her research outputs have been featured as Top Cited and Top Downloaded articles in journals published by Elsevier and Wiley. She has led international, muti-disciplinary teams in projects from Energy Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering UK, Global Challenges Research Fund, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taiwan and international industry collaborators; building research partnerships from the UK, New York, Japan, Italy, Canada, Uganda and Southeast Asia. She also contributes to the scholarly community as Associate Editor, editorial board and reviewer for journals. Her international engagements include serving as a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability Science, National Taipei University (Taiwan, ROC) and invited scholar at the City College of New York and Southern Connecticut State University (USA).

Internationally, Dr Go is a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK. She also brings substantial industry engagement with a record of addressing real-world industry problems. Her industry certifications include Qualified Person (QP) with Malaysia’s Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) for grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems, a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Energy Auditor. She holds professional recognition across Asia-Pacific and ASEAN networks including APEC Engineer, International Professional Engineer and ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer.
