Biography
Dr. Suliman Alshahmy is Assistant Professor of Finance at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University Dubai, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He holds a PhD in Business from the University of Nottingham. His research spans sustainable finance, ESG disclosure, digital assets, and AI in finance, with publications in Palgrave Macmillan and De Gruyter. A recognised practitioner, he founded the Libyan Stock Exchange (2004), served as Chairman of a leading Libyan bank, and was elected President of the Arab Federation of Exchanges (2010–2011). He also authored a commissioned report on Libya's sustainable development for the United Nations.
