Biography

Muznah Gauhar has been teaching at Heriot-Watt University for the past three years, delivering courses in Economics, Corporate Finance, and Corporate Governance at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has recently joined the PhD programme as a graduate researcher. Her academic interests span applied economics, financial systems, and governance structures, with a growing focus on development economics and international financial institutions.

Her research focuses on understanding the effects of IMF conditionalities on economic sovereignty and growth in developing countries such as Pakistan. She aims to explore how the implementation of IMF‑mandated structural reforms influences institutional quality, fiscal policy autonomy, and long‑term development outcomes. Through this work, she seeks to contribute to the broader debate on the trade‑off between international financial assistance and domestic economic independence.
