Biography
Anthony Stevenson is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, with appointments in both the UK and Dubai campuses. His academic work centres on banking, finance, and corporate strategy, with a strong emphasis on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).
He has a particular passion for middle-market transactions and has co-authored a book on the subject. His current research explores M&A dynamics in emerging markets, particularly in the Middle East, where economic diversification efforts create rich opportunities for cross-border deals and pose distinct regulatory and cultural challenges.
In parallel, Anthony’s work in banking and finance examines how financial institutions are aligning regulatory frameworks with sustainability objectives. This includes integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into lending and investment decisions, the evolution of sustainable finance regulations, and the critical role of banks in facilitating a stable green transition.
