Our strategy

Strategy 2025 provides the blueprint for the University to be world-leading, with the freedom to explore new ideas of specialism, while building on those areas in which we already excel.

Our University is distinctive, with global reach and a proud history of providing access to education, ideas and solutions that make a real contribution in the world. Our strategy is based on our heritage, our expertise, our relevance and our global presence, and sets a framework for pursuit of our ambitions imaginatively and energetically. It comprises four main themes overleaf on page 6.

Strategy 2035

We are currently developing our next ten-year strategy to 2035. We have established a clear institutional statement of purpose, and plan to complete the strategy framework by June 2025.

The new strategy will assure a bridge between Strategy 2025 and the next decade by focusing on key distinctive elements of our University:

  • Inclusion and access focus
  • Empowered and entrepreneurial leadership across our global community
