Work across our global campuses

Our global campuses are situated in some of the world's most inspiring locations, each offering superb facilities, safe surroundings and a truly multi-cultural welcome.

Each of our campuses in the United Kingdom, Dubai and Malaysia provides the opportunity for collaborative, innovative working and an exciting global career.

Within the campus is the 180-acre Research Park, opened in 1971 and the first university research park in Europe. This is home to over 25 organisations and companies, employing around 1,200 people, including including the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, Scottish Water, Charles River, Fugro and Logan Energy. The Park is integral to the University’s ambitious plans focused around Robotics and AI, Health and Care Technologies, Net Zero, Quantum and Satellite Communications, and Brewing and Distilling.

Oriam

Oriam

The campus is the location of Oriam, Scotland’s National Performance Centre for Sport, providing unparalleled sport and fitness facilities, including a new Indoor Tennis Centre with six courts.

Dubai

Heriot-Watt has been delivering outstanding education opportunities and research in Dubai for more than 20 years now. In 2021, the Dubai Campus relocated to an eye-catching seven-storey structure occupying 218,000 square feet, just as the University celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding roots in Scotland.

The modern campus has further enhanced the student experience across the University’s portfolio of programmes including in data science, computing and AI, business, architecture and design, and engineering. It also leads out on demonstrating sustainable infrastructure and sensing. We are currently further expanding the campus with new facilities due to open September 2025.

Malaysia

The Malaysia Campus is based in the modern garden city of Putrajaya, a short distance from Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya has excellent facilities, infrastructure, and transport links. It continues to develop as an attractive centre of learning.

The campus, which sits on 4.8 acres in a stunning lakeside location close to the Putrajaya marina, is home to over 2,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It was the first ‘green’ university campus in Malaysia. The campus has capacity for 4,000 students.

Scottish Borders

The Scottish Borders Campus, which is home to the School of Textiles and Design is a centre of excellence in design, bringing together talented students from across the globe to study collaboratively in Fashion, Design and Textiles.

Orkney

The Orkney Campus is based on the Orkney Research and Innovation Campus. Our specialist campus is home to our International Centre for Island Technology, and Islands Growth Deal partnership, the Islands Centre for Net Zero, focused on developing sustainable solutions for island communities across the globe. We have been part of the Orcadian community for more than 34 years.

Panmure House

Panmure House in Edinburgh’s Canongate, once home to the economist Adam Smith, was officially re-opened in 2018. Led by Heriot-Watt’s Edinburgh Business School, the Grade A-listed building was purchased and extensively renovated, providing a unique asset for the University, for the city of Edinburgh and for the wider community.

It is now the focus of our outreach in contemporary economics and sustainable finance, and an influential centre for social and economic debate and research — convening, in the name and spirit of Adam Smith, to effect positive change and forge global, future- focused networks.
