Heriot-Watt sport event in Edinburgh - Meet the former World No.1

We’re excited to invite you to join students, alumni, staff and University partners for a special event - In conversation with Datuk (Dr) Nicol David: Shaping Futures Through Sport and Education.

Datuk (Dr) Nicol David, is the former Squash World No.1, holding this position for 108 months… yes, you read that right – 108 months! She is also 8‑time World Champion and is currently Pro‑Chancellor at Heriot‑Watt University Malaysia.

From an early breakthrough on Heriot‑Watt courts at the Scottish Junior Open to an era‑defining professional career, Nicol is widely regarded as the greatest women’s squash player in history. Today, through the Nicol David Organisation and in partnership with Heriot-Watt University Malaysia - she empowers young people through sport and education. Join us on the night to hear more about Nicol’s incredible professional sports career and the impact she’s had supporting others since she retired from squash.

This event will also kick off Oriam’s (Scotland's Sports Performance Centre based on our Edinburgh campus) 10‑year milestone celebrations and showcase how our ‘Excellence Across Sport’ strategy is developing opportunities for students, athletes, communities and partner organisations.
