Orkney Alumni & Friends Reception

We are delighted to invite you to a special Heriot-Watt University Alumni & Friends Reception in Orkney – celebrating 35 years!

Hosted at Heriot-Watt’s Orkney Campus in the Robert Rendall Building, this reception will held on Thursday 5 February 2026.

Join our Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Richard A. Williams, and Professor Sandy Kerr, Director International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT), along with colleagues and friends - for an evening of news, meaningful conversations and an opportunity to reconnect with your university and alumni.

For 35 years our Orkney campus has offered a unique environment for studying marine science and energy-related programmes. Our research-led postgraduate programmes in marine and environmental science, renewable energy, and energy transition, offer students the opportunity to study in a vibrant community with a rich learning environment, working alongside academics and industry professionals, and across disciplines to deliver practical solutions with global impact.

Over the years, our graduates have made huge contributions to Orkney’s world-leading energy cluster, and those who leave become global ambassadors for both Orkney and Scotland. Join us to celebrate the global impact we continue to make, as we shape the future together.
