Heriot-Watt secures top spot in Scotland in 2027 rankings

Heriot-Watt University has been ranked the number one University in Scotland in the 2027 Uni Compare rankings.
The award recognises the outstanding student experience offered by the University across multiple areas including teaching quality, academic support, facilities, wellbeing services, employability support and student life. This year’s results mark a dramatic rise for Heriot-Watt which was ranked 12th in Scotland last year, highlighting the University’s growing reputation, dedication to student satisfaction and commitment to excellence.
This achievement reflects the strength of our teaching, the quality of our student support, and our continued commitment to providing an outstanding student experience.
Uni Compare is one of the UK’s most comprehensive student-driven ranking platforms. Since 2020, it has gathered the views and opinions of more than 175,000 students studying across the country.
Welcoming the latest findings is Professor Tadhg O’Donovan, Deputy Principal for Education and Student Life at Heriot-Watt University, who said: “To be ranked number one in Scotland by Uni Compare is a fantastic endorsement of the experience we offer at Heriot-Watt.

More than 24,000 student reviews were collected for the 2027 Uni Compare rankings, with over 300 universities evaluated.
