Edinburgh Business School reaches key AACSB accreditation milestone

Edinburgh Business School has reached an important milestone with AACSB, one of the world’s leading accrediting bodies for business education.

AACSB International’s Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) voted to accept the School’s Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) in February, acknowledging the School’s progression within the accreditation process.

This milestone reflects Edinburgh Business School’s commitment to excellence across all areas of business education. AACSB’s standards are rigorous, principles-based, and internationally recognised, with fewer than 6% of business schools achieving accreditation worldwide.

Progression within this process also underscores Edinburgh Business School’s strong alignment with AACSB’s expectations around quality and impact. The School’s mission to deliver accessible, practice-oriented education and research that promotes responsible business echoes AACSB’s emphasis on strategic management, impactful research, high-quality teaching, and meaningful societal engagement.

Continuing its AACSB accreditation journey, Edinburgh Business School now moves to iSER Implementation. At this stage, Edinburgh Business School will focus on deepening its alignment with the nine AACSB business standards. This will include strengthening its approach across strategy; faculty; learning and teaching; and assurance of learning, and research while further advancing its contribution to societal impact.

Executive Dean Professor Angus Laing reflects on the School’s recent success:

“AACSB accreditation provides us with a framework for best practice. It challenges us to pursue excellence and build on our continuous improvement efforts across all our activities, be that our teaching, research, or learner progression and support.

Acceptance of our iSER reflects a significant collective effort across the School’s global community.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with our mentor, Associate Dean Julie Perrin-Halot of Grenoble Ecole de Management, and our AACSB Liaison Manager Valdas Dovidavicius, as we progress through the next phase of our accreditation journey.”

The AACSB accreditation journey is distinct and important for Edinburgh Business School. Not only does this progress signify the School’s commitment to high-quality, impactful business education and research, but it also solidifies the School’s position within an international community of institutions dedicated to continuous improvement, innovation in business education, and the development of responsible leaders.
