Heriot-Watt University Malaysia hosts French Embassy delegation and international student lunch

French delegation visits Heriot-Watt University Malaysia for academic and cultural exchange

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) had the privilege of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the Embassy of France in Malaysia, alongside representatives from ESIEE Paris and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), for a day of strategic engagement and cultural celebration.

The French delegation included Mr. Thierry d’Anna, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, and Mr. Yohann Breard, Attaché for Science and Higher Education. They were joined by Professor Yves Blanchard, Deputy Director of International Relations at ESIEE Paris. EMGS representatives Mr. Syed Mohammad Khair Syed Hussein, Mr. Zinnun Alrashid, and Ms. Nur Asyikin Azizan were also present to support the discussion on transnational education and global partnerships.

The visit served as a platform to reaffirm the strong and growing academic ties between France and Malaysia, with a particular focus on student exchange, research collaboration, and transnational education.

The engagement was followed by the International Student Luncheon, a vibrant gathering that transformed the campus Multi-Purpose Hall into a celebration of cultural diversity. Students from across the globe came together to share experiences, forge friendships, and reflect on what it means to be part of a truly global university community.

The France-Malaysia educational partnership stands as a model for successful transnational education, characterised by mutual benefit, cultural exchange, and meaningful student experiences.

Events like these mark important milestones in HWUM’s ongoing commitment to creating a globally inclusive and collaborative learning environment, one where students are empowered to thrive, connect, and contribute meaningfully to a more interconnected world.
