Global student engagement through dragon boating
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia recently hosted two Dragon Boating sessions on 7 and 9 April 2025 at Marina Putrajaya, in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University Dubai.
The event formed part of a cross-campus initiative to promote global student engagement and intercultural exchange.
A delegation from the Heriot-Watt University Dubai Dragon Boating Club visited the Malaysia campus to lead the sessions, introducing the sport to students through hands-on experience and team-based training. Designed to be accessible for all skill levels, the sessions offered students at the Malaysia campus an opportunity to develop teamwork, endurance, and leadership in an inclusive environment.
This initiative underscores Heriot-Watt University’s position as a global university, providing students with access to distinctive co-curricular experiences beyond the classroom. The interaction between students from both global campuses fostered meaningful cultural exchange and highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping well-rounded graduates.
Such activities continue to reflect the University’s commitment to enriching student life through international exposure, global networks, and experiential learning. Further cross-campus student programmes are being planned as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global community.
