Academic staff and PhD student shine at awards

Staff and student recognised with awards.

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of two academic staff members, Dr Teoh Jing Wei and Dr Teoh Wei Lin, along with PhD student Mr Goh Kai Le, at the recent Anugerah Persatuan Sains Matematik Malaysia (PERSAMA) Awards 2025.

Recognised for their exceptional talent and innovation in the mathematical sciences, they secured top honours across multiple award categories:

  • Grand Prize in the Scientific Paper Category

Awarded to Dr Teoh Jing Wei and Dr Teoh Wei Lin for their comprehensive research paper titled “A Robust Design for the Omnibus SPRT Control Chart Under Skewed Data Distributions.”

  • Honourable Mention in the Scientific Paper Category

Earned by the team of Mr Goh Kai Le, Dr Teoh Wei Lin, and Dr Teoh Jing Wei for their insightful paper titled “The One-Sided Variable Sampling Interval Exponentially Weighted Moving Average X-bar Charts Under the Gamma Distribution.”

  • Honourable Mention in the Mathematical Innovation Category

Bestowed upon Dr Teoh Jing Wei and Dr Teoh Wei Lin for their innovative project “Development of a Process Monitoring Application Using OSPRT Control Charts.”

These accolades highlight the high calibre of the University’s school and doctoral researchers and the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and impactful innovation in mathematical sciences.
