Heriot-Watt graduates top employability in Scotland and rank among UK’s best
Heriot-Watt graduates remain the most employable in Scotland and are highly sought after across the UK.
That is according to the latest Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) Graduate Outcomes Survey for 2020/21. It found 83.7% of Heriot-Watt undergraduates secured high-skilled positions within 15 months of completing their studies.
The annual Survey also saw the University rise to second in the UK for undergraduates in full-time study or employment, whilst retaining the top spot for producing the most employable graduates in Scotland.
The latest results from HESA further underscores our hard-fought reputation as a University of opportunity and place where students will learn the skills, knowledge and confidence to meet the needs of today’s employers.
Professor Richard A. Williams, Principal and Vice-Chancellor said the Survey highlights the high calibre of graduates at Heriot-Watt University.
“Choosing the right university is one of the most important decisions a student is ever likely to make and those who come to Heriot-Watt can be reassured they’re joining an institution with a proud history spanning more than 200 years and from where countless others have gone on to forge exciting, fulfilling careers for the betterment of society,” he said.
“The latest results from HESA further underscores our hard-fought reputation as a University of opportunity and place where students will learn the skills, knowledge and confidence to meet the needs of today’s employers.”
The HESA Graduate Outcomes Survey is used by league tables, prospects and The Complete University Guide to help students decide where to apply.
It works with graduates from higher education providers across the UK to gather data on the career paths and opportunities chosen after university.
Alan Smith Head of Careers at Heriot-Watt University adds: “After our significant rise in the rankings last year, we are pleased to see that Heriot-Watt has improved yet again regarding Undergraduate Positive Outcomes. Having students complete the revised Career Readiness Survey at registration means that our Careers Consultants can easily identify students at most risk of not progressing with their career planning and ensure that additional support is targeted to ensure they are on track by the time they graduate.
“The continuing excellent work of our Employer Engagement team in attracting organisations from every sector to Heriot-Watt, helps our students to make those all-important industry connections.”
