EBS Global Incubator Dubai welcomes its largest cohort to date
The Edinburgh Business School (EBS) Global Incubator Dubai recently welcomed its largest cohort since inception of the initiative, launching 20 promising startups into its dynamic four-month programme.
The orientation day began with insightful speeches from Professor Dame Heather McGregor and Sir Richard Andrew Williams, emphasising the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Steven Kinvi from Techstars, the world’s most active pre-seed investor, was also in attendance, alongside representatives from INJAZ UAE and the Fujairah Research Centre, both key players in advancing innovation and supporting the UAE’s long-term strategic vision.
The incubator, held twice a year, is designed to nurture innovative businesses, offering a structured curriculum focused on critical areas of development. The programme’s first month concentrates on idea and customer validation, followed by business communication skills in the second month. Market research and business model innovation are the focus of the third month, with financial planning and market strategy rounding out the final phase.
As the Incubator Manager at EBS Global Incubator, Dubai, Huma Imdad plays a key role in fostering innovation, guiding early-stage startups, and facilitating their growth journey. She manages the programme operations, engages with academic and industry mentors, and ensures startups have the resources, networks, and expertise necessary to scale successfully. The EBS incubator team also provides advice to cohort companies, with opportunities to practice pitching and refine business plan.
EBS Global Incubator Dubai is open to startups providing innovative solutions in AI/robotics, net zero, smart construction, and clean technology. While startups can be based anywhere, they must demonstrate a strategic fit with Dubai’s market and have at least one team member able to attend in person. A UAE business license is required, and startups must have at least one full-time team member. Heriot-Watt University students, female founders, and Emirati nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
The sheer talent and innovation we’ve seen in this cohort is truly inspiring. Our goal is to provide them with the tools and mentorship needed to turn their ideas into sustainable, impactful businesses.
The orientation showcased the entrepreneurial creativity and spirit of startups, with a range of groundbreaking business ideas. EBS Incubator looks forward to supporting these ventures as they embark on their journey of growth and development.
