Robotic and mechatronic is an emerging field that are both high priority and high impact. Graduates from this programme can contribute to the growing interest and demand in the industry for professional robotic and mechatronic engineers, locally and abroad. As robotic and artificial intelligence become the key technology enabler for the future, graduates from this programme will be at the forefront of designing innovative products and devices.
The main aim of this programme is to equip students with strong theoretical and practical skills in robotic and mechatronic to work at a professional level in related industries. This programme will combine a broad range of multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering with intelligent embedded control to solve complex engineering problems.
Your student experience
Teaching methods range from lectures, tutorial classes and mentor sessions, to workshop and laboratory activities supported by group and individual projects. Students will take a mix of mandatory and optional modules plus a dissertation. Project modules are also introduced to enable students to have hands-on experience and apply the knowledge into building and designing robotic and mechatronic systems.

We have standard entry requirements for all of our courses that you will have to meet.
Year 1
- Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Foundation in Science: Successful completion and meet Mathematics, Physics and English requirements.
- A-Level: BBC including B in Mathematics and Physics.
- STPM: GPA 2.67 for 3 subjects, including GPA 2.67 in Mathematics and Physics.
- UEC: 15 points or less including A2 in Mathematics and Physics (5 subjects not less than B grade).
- IB Diploma: 26 points for 6 subjects including 5 in SL Physics and Mathematics AA (or 5 in HL Mathematics AI).
- WACE/SACE: ATAR 75 including B in Mathematics and Physics.
- CPU: 75% including 70% in Mathematics and Physics.
- Foundation: CGPA 2.5 including Grade C in Mathematics, Physics and English.
- China Senior High School Diploma: 80% including 80% in Mathematics and Physics.
- India CBSE and CISCE Class XII: 75% including 75% in Mathematics and Physics.
- Indonesia SMA 3: 80% including 80% in Mathematics & Physics
