My journey as a student at Global College, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, has been nothing short of life-changing. I was fortunate to be selected for the PETRONAS Education Scholarship Programme, which opened the door to an incredible opportunity to pursue my studies in a diverse and high-quality academic environment.

One of the most impactful aspects of my experience has been the strong sense of support and encouragement from both my peers and lecturers. I was able to form meaningful friendships with people who motivated me to grow and challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. Being surrounded by individuals who genuinely cared about each other's success made a big difference. A standout moment for me was participating in the university’s Hackathon competition. It was my first time joining such an event, and to my surprise and joy, my team won first place. That experience not only boosted my confidence but also showed me how far I had come in terms of personal and academic growth.

The transition into university life was also made smoother by the Fit-For-Future orientation programme. This initiative was extremely helpful in bridging the gap between school and university life. It addressed many of the challenges new students face — especially for someone like me who had to overcome a language barrier. Through the programme, I learned how to communicate more confidently with my peers and lecturers, ask for help when needed, and most importantly, believe in my ability to succeed in this new chapter.

Academically, Global College equipped me with a strong foundation that has prepared me well for my undergraduate studies in Computer Science. The curriculum was not only intellectually stimulating but also practical, encouraging critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving — all essential skills for the tech industry. Beyond academics, the college environment pushed me to grow as an individual. I’ve developed better time management, learned to handle pressure more effectively, and gained the resilience to face future challenges head-on.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Global College. It wasn’t just about textbooks and exams — it was about discovering my potential, building lasting relationships, and laying the groundwork for a future I’m excited about. I now move forward into my undergraduate studies feeling confident, prepared, and proud to be part of the Heriot-Watt community
