Profile

Heriot-Watt was able to offer me different opportunities in the way that I learned the syllabus; incorporating many hands-on projects to work with IoTs, developing apps and software, and also working with up-and-coming AI tools. The coursework assigned provided a better understanding and the practicality of applying my knowledge into codes and real-life scenarios. Apart from academia, I was also given the opportunity to take on the role as Vice President for Heriot-Watt Silverbacks, which led to the development of my own Touch Rugby team. These experiences showed me the value of working in teams and the importance of having a space apart from academics to excel in. My experiences in Heriot-Watt helped to shape the views and values of how I work and delegate my time presently as I move into the next chapter of my working life.

The people I've met at Heriot-Watt have contributed to many fond memories of my time there; from friends, lecturers, peers, and even just people I meet in passing. Of course, my friends have been apart of most of those fond memories; staying late to finish assignments or coming so early that roads are clear to study before exams. Even if I was going through a stressful time, it wouldn't feel so hard because of my environment and the support system I had.

I believe that the way the course is structured helps students to learn the foundation and nitty-gritty parts before diving into the more complex and complicated parts. The groupworks and projects not only helped me to learn how to apply my knowledge into real work and output but also how to work professionally in teams, showing me the importance of teamwork, attention to detail and time management. Giving kudos to not only the material and course structure, but also the lecturers that help every step of the way. I believe that the lecturers provide guidance and support to students when asked, sometimes even if they just have an inkling feeling, which really makes you feel supported throughout your studies.

A tribute to my friends, of course, for the time we spent together and the hurdles we overcame together, but also a tribute to my dissertation supervision, Dr. Rosalind, for her support throughout my final year. During my dissertation, I was faced with many issues in my project but Dr. Rosalind never doubted my abilities and continued to encourage me even when I felt there was no other option.
