Leading the global shift to low carbon living
Scotland has the expertise, industry and ambition to lead the transition to net zero. Through our Global Research Institute in Net Zero (iNetZ+),
we bring those strengths together to deliver real-world impact across circular materials, low-carbon logistics, and sustainable brewing and distilling.
Our goal is simple but ambitious: to turn Scotland into a living laboratory for the green transition. By testing and scaling solutions in real contexts—with real partners—we’re proving that decarbonisation can create jobs, strengthen communities, and open new markets worldwide.
Building Scotland’s Net Zero future
Circular materials and place-making
Scotland’s next-generation circular hub is already taking shape, with innovation labs, pilot lines and early spin-outs like Kenoteq proving how waste can become value. Our pipeline of cluster tenants and industry partnerships is growing fast, laying the foundations for a global circular economy district.
Zero-carbon freight and transport
We aim to create the UK’s first digitally integrated, zero-emission freight corridor. With our TransiT Hub and digital twin capability, live pilots will track carbon, cost and efficiency, showing how cleaner logistics can be faster, cheaper and more resilient.
Centre for Sustainable Brewing and Distilling (CSBD)
From grain to glass, we are working with global and craft brewers, distillers and supply chains to cut emissions across one of Scotland’s most iconic industries. With proven partnerships, a growing spin-out pipeline and new pilot projects under way, CSBD is helping reshape the drinks sector for a sustainable future.
Help deliver Net Zero now
We are already proving what is possible, but with the right partners we can achieve even greater impact. Work with us to co-fund real-world pilots, invest in the circular materials cluster, or join our zero-emission freight demonstrators to help deliver solutions that matter.

Every partnership strengthens Scotland’s ability to demonstrate Net Zero solutions at scale. By working with us, you can help advance:
-
Circular materials and manufacturing that turn industrial waste into next-generation products.
-
Digitally optimised freight and transport that cut emissions while reducing costs.
-
Low-carbon food and drink innovation that safeguards heritage industries and local economies.
-
Place-based regeneration that anchors skills, infrastructure, and investment in communities.
-
Nature-based solutions that restore ecosystems and enhance resilience.
Designed for collaboration
The transition to net zero will be won through collaboration — between industry and academia, investors and innovators, communities and policymakers. iNetZ+ is where those worlds meet. Together, we’re demonstrating that sustainable growth and carbon reduction can go hand in hand, creating solutions that Scotland can export and the world can build upon.
