Dr Wahida Yaakub is an Assistant Professor in Finance in the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia Campus. She received a PhD in Finance from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Campus. Her teaching portfolio includes Business Accounting and Assurance, Agency Theory and Corporate Governance, Contemporary Issues in Finance, Corporate Reporting and Introductory Economics.
Her research interest focus on behavioral corporate finance (mainly initial public offerings) and personal financial planning, which include, amongst others, financial literacy, financial wellbeing and financial resilience.

Background
Prior joining the academia in 2019, Wahida worked in the financial services industry for five years and served the government of Malaysia for a year. While pursuing her PhD, she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and was in a team responsible for the establishment of the Bloomberg Finance Lab in Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Campus. She led the pioneer batches of students for the Bloomberg Market Concept certification, where students earned practical insights about the capital market, and built basic skills on the Bloomberg Terminals that enhance their employability.
Wahida is passionate about financial education, and actively sharing personal finance knowledge to help people improve their financial wellbeing.
